"You've Really Got a Hold on Me" is a previously unreleased cover of the Miracles performed by Michael Jackson in 1973, released as the second track on the Farewell My Summer Love compilation album.
Background[]
The song was originally written by Smokey Robinson while in New York in 1962 on business for Motown; he heard Sam Cooke's "Bring It On Home to Me", which was in the charts at the time, and—influenced by it—wrote the song in his hotel room.
The song was recorded in Studio A of Motown on October 16, 1962, with Robinson on lead vocals, and Miracles' second tenor Bobby Rogers on harmony co-lead. Robinson was the producer, and he had Eddie Willis and Miracle Marv Tarplin share the guitar parts.
Michael first recorded his own version on June 11, 1973, post-Music & Me, and pre-Forever Michael. The cover wouldn't see a release until a decade and years later when it was picked up again for the former and released.

Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
I don't like you but I love you
Seems that I'm always thinking of you
Oh, oh, oh, you treat me badly
I love you madly
[Chorus]
You really got a hold on me
You really got a hold on me, yeah
I love you and all I want you to do is just hold me
Hold me, hold me
[Verse 2]
I don't want you but I need you
Don't want to kiss you but I need you
Oh, oh, oh, you do me wrong now
My love is strong now
[Chorus]
You really got a hold on me, come on
You really got a hold on me, yeah
I love you and all I want you to do is just hold me
Hold me, hold me
[Verse 3]
I want to leave you, don't want to stay here
Don't want to spend another day here
Oh, oh, oh, I want to split now
I can't quit now
[Chorus]
You really got a hold on me, come on
You really got a hold on me, baby
You really got a hold on me
You really got a hold on me, yeah
[Outro]
Yeah, yeah
Got a hold on me
You really got a hold on me
Yeah
