"What a Lovely Way to Go" is a previously unreleased song written and produced by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released as the eighteenth track from the Thriller 40 reissue.

According to Jackson, the track was written before Off the Wall.[1] It was first recorded in 1978 during the album's recording sessions, under the title "What a Lonely Way to Go". However, it wasn't in the final cut.[2] It was later revisited for Thriller in 1981, with the title being changed to "What a Lovely Way to Go", though it didn't make the cut again.
After Jackson's passing, the song was remixed by Mark Ronson in 2010 for inclusion on the Michael album under the title "Lovely Way", although it didn't make the cut once again. On January 24, 2020, a tagged snippet of the remix leaked online.
On October 6, 2022, "What a Lovely Way to Go" was revealed to be a part of the Thriller 40 tracklist.[2]
