"What a Lovely Way to Go" is a previously unreleased song by Michael Jackson released as the eighteenth track on Thriller 40.

According to Jackson, the song was written before Off the Wall.[1] It was first recorded in 1978 during the album's recording sessions, under the title "What a Lonely Way to Go", it ultimately didn't make the cut for the album however.[2] It was later revisited for Thriller during the Fall of 1981, with the title being changed to "What a Lovely Way to Go", although it didn't make the cut again.
After Jackson's passing, the song was remixed by Mark Ronson in Early 2010 for inclusion on the Michael album under the title "Lovely Way", although it didn't make the cut once again. On January 24, 2020, a tagged snippet of the remix leaked online.
On October 6, 2022, "What a Lovely Way to Go" was revealed to be a part of the Thriller 40 tracklist.[2]
