Background[]
"What You Do to Me" was produced with Bill Bottrell and recorded in the fall of 1985 for Bad, although it wasn't included in the final release.[1] The song is known to be completed enough to be ready for release, as confirmed by Damien Shields.[2]
On October 16, 2022, Shields would reveal details on the song through the X social media platform.
“ | What You Do To Me has lyrics/vocals. It's a mid-tempo love song. Similar breezy vibe to Free and I'm So Blue. Chorus lyrics: "You just don't know, you just don't know, what you do to me, do to me, do to me, do-do-do, do to me. | ” |

Bottrell himself also mentioned the song alongside "Bad Girl" when asked by a X user if both of the tracks were either worked on by him, or these were solely recorded by John Barnes.
“ | They both appear in my journals. I don't remember how the songs go. It was just a day or two. Never fleshed out. Maybe some vocals, I don't know. | ” |
