"Turnin' Me Off" (also referred to as "Turning Me Off") is an unreleased song by Michael Jackson intended for the Bad album.

Background[]

"Turnin' Me Off" was written and recorded by Michael between January 29 and March 9, 1986 and produced by John Barnes and Bill Bottrell.^[1] It was intended for the Bad album, although it failed to make it.

“	It had some crazy sound combinations, it was kind of an Electronica sound - we had three different synthesizers we were using. The synths had enough punch that we left the bass out.	”

Matt Forger also noted it's "one of Michael's edgier experiments." and that it's "very groove-oriented. It was quite an interesting track."^[3] Bottrell on the other hand expressed his dislike towards "Turnin' Me Off", claiming it to be a "Weird little thing. Very unlikeable."^[4] In a now-deleted series of X posts from April 2024, Bill revealed more details on the song.

“	"turning me off" a long time orphan, started tracking Jan 29 1986. I never recorded lead vocal on TMO. Never got past BGs and tracking. I got sick of that song. [...] If Brad S. has a DAT, it's probably from Westlake. He had no access to H'hurst until the last day of my employment, when he showed up late at night and took away all the tapes. To go to Westlake. This is why, on Dangerous, I bought a locker with padlock.	”
