Jonathan Phillip Moffett (professionally known as Sugarfoot) is an American drummer, songwriter and producer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was Michael Jackson's drummer on multiple ocasions over the course of 30 years, up until the artist's last days.
Meeting[]
In 1979, Moffett auditioned as a drummer for the Jacksons'. He was very eager to play with the group. As they eventually chose him, it marked the beginning for Sugarfoot's professional career.
Friendship[]
Aside from touring with the artist, Sugarfoot was close friends with Michael and would often hang out at Hayvenhurst with the family as well as at the Neverland Ranch with Michael solely.[1] On the road, the drummer had drawing contests with the King of Pop and kept on sending him holiday cards.[2]

The Jacksons[]
Moffett got to play with the Jacksons through the Destiny World Tour, Triumph Tour and Victory Tour. Additionally, his drumming can be heard on the Jacksons' Live! album, released in 1980.
Michael Jackson's solo career[]
Sugarfoot went on to continue his work with Michael, as he made appearances as his drummer throughout both concerts and events alike, including 30th Annual Grammy Awards, HIStory World Tour between 1996 and 1997, 30th Anniversary Celebration and United We Stand: What More Can I Give in 2001 and finally the This Is It rehearsals in 2009.
After Jackson's death, Moffett performed at the Staples Center for Michael Jackson's memorial service.

Trivia[]
- On his YouTube channel, Moffett often posts drum covers of Jackson's songs.[3] His most popular video happens to be footage of the Munich 1997 concert, which Sugarfoot was a part of, gathering 122 million views.[4] The most popular drum cover of his however, is "Beat It", recieving 7,8 million views.[5]
- The drummer also posted unreleased This Is It rehearsals in the past, however these are currently unavailable, and were either deleted or privated.[6]
- Sugarfoot talked in detail on his work and friendship with Michael on the sixty first episode of the MJCast.[7]
- According to Moffett, the last words Jackson told him, were "I’ll see you tomorrow. I love you, Foot". This happened around midnight of June 25, 2009, and only a few hours later, Michael passed away.[8]
