"Speed Demon" is a song by Michael Jackson released as the third track from the Bad album. It was released as a promotional single in September 4, 1989.
Background[]
"Speed Demon" was first recorded as a demo at Hayvenhurst in June 18, 1986, with another, more finished demo, being recorded between November 18-December 12 of the same year. The album version was worked on between March-June 15, 1987. Quincy Jones came up with the idea, after Jackson was pulled over for driving too fast. It includes a transition to "Liberian Girl" making it Jackson's first song to do so.
Music video[]
The track gained a 10-minute long music video, directed by Jerry Kramer. It features Jackson being chased by obsessive fans and paparazzi, all made in clay.
Nero Remix[]
On September 18, 2012, a remix of "Speed Demon" done by Nero was released as a part of the Bad 25 anniversary album. It has been mostly criticized by Jackson's fans, though not a lot of them acknowledge the remix either.

Trivia[]
- It is one of the five songs on Bad that had to be sped up due to the limitations on a 12" LP record. Other songs were "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Just Good Friends", and "Smooth Criminal".
- At least two remixes were planned for the single release. One was a techno-house remix by Omar Santana, while the other was an electro-funk remix by Mann Parish. In both cases, they were scrapped after receiving divided reactions from Michael and Quincy. Neither of these remixes has seen the light of day since.
