The song was registered with the U.S. Copyright Office in 2010, listing Neff-U as the producer behind it.[1] On October 21, 2022, Damien Shields confirmed through the X social media platform, that "Silent Spring" is an instrumental made sometime between 2008 and 2009.[2]
Among other titles, it became a contender for Jackson's never-finished eleventh studio album.
