"Rolling the Dice" (also referred to as just "Roll the Dice") is an unreleased song by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson intended for the Thriller album.
Background[]
"Rolling the Dice" was first publicly acknowledged by Jackson during his deposition in Mexico in November 1993. According to him, it was worked on at Hayvenhurst. "Rolling the Dice" was written by Rod Temperton, produced by Quincy Jones, and recorded in the fall of 1981.[1]
“ | Yes, Rolling the Dice that we did a demo on at Hayvenhurst but we never released it. We didn't think it was strong enough. | ” |

Considering the year it was recorded, it's likely that the track was discontinued at the early stages of development.
Trivia[]
- This is one of the two Temperton-written songs not to progress past its demo stage, the others being "Got the Hots" and to a certain extent, "Starlight."
