"P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" is a song by Michael Jackson released as the eighth track from the Thriller album. It was released as a single on September 19, 1983, serving as the sixth single from the album.
A demo was released in 2004 as part of The Ultimate Collection (and re-released in 2022 on Thriller 40).
Background[]
The song was written and recorded in September 1982. Quincy Jones asked several songwriters to write a song around the title, after coming up with it from calling his wife "pretty young thing". Jackson and Greg Phillinganes co-wrote a mid-tempo demo. However, Jones wanted a fast track and went with the version written by James Ingram.[1]

In the United States, this song had the lowest peak position out of all seven of the singles released from Thriller, but barely made the top ten - it peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 26, 1983. The song also peaked at #46 on the R&B singles chart.
2008 Remix[]
"P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) 2008" is a remix of Michael Jackson's song "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)", released as the twelfth track on Thriller 25. The rework got made with will.i.am in 2007. For the remix, a demo of the original track was used. This featured completely different lyrics and beat from what was released on Thriller.
