"One More Chance" is a song produced by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released as the seventeenth track from the Number Ones compilation album. It was released as a single on November 22, 2003, serving not only as the lead and only single from the album, but also the final original single Jackson released during his lifetime.

Background[]

"One More Chance" was made with R. Kelly, who previously worked with Jackson on “You Are Not Alone” and “Cry” and recorded in 2003 at The Hit Factory, shortly before it's release.

Music video[]

The music video was filmed with director Nick Brandt in Las Vegas on November 17, 2003. It featured Jackson performing to fans, however, they're on the stage, while he's where they would usually be instead.

While filming, the Neverland Ranch was raided by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office regarding the Gavin Arvizo allegations. This interrupted filming for the night, as they had to cease production. Filming for the music video was partially incomplete as they’d only shot angles of Jackson from behind. Due to Jackson's issues with the court that followed, the video was never finished and became the final music video he had ever worked on.[1]

After Jackson's death, on October 13, 2010, it was announced that Jackson's team would work on finishing the video with all available footage they had. A rough cut was leaked online on November 15, and the finished version was released four days later.
