Number Ones is a greatest hits album by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released through Epic Records on November 18, 2003. It was Jackson's first proper compilation album, following the release of the first disc of HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I in 1995. The compilation sold over 10 million copies worldwide.[1]
Contents[]
The album features Jackson's singles, which reached number 1 in charts around the world, hence the album's name. The streaming and American versions feature "Ben" as the final track, although it isn't the 1972 version, but rather an edit of what can be found on the Jacksons' 1980 Live album. The international edition also includes "Human Nature" and "Blood on the Dance Floor".
Number Ones features the final original single released during Jackson's lifetime, "One More Chance", released two days after the album.
Artwork[]
Four covers were made for the Number Ones album: a pose from the "Bad" music video, one from the "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" music video, where he's suspended on his toes while performing "Billie Jean" on the HIStory World Tour (which is the main album cover and the one included on streaming services), and the final cover shows him holding his signature fedora, amid a kick (from "Black or White").
