Template:Infobox album Michael is a posthumous studio album of unreleased songs recorded prior to the late Michael Jackson's death. It is the seventh official album released under Michael Jackson's name, as well the first release of new song material since his last album, Invincible. The album has been deemed controversial, between the first promotional single, which have garnered some mixed responses as to the authenticity of Jackson's vocals to the mosaic album art, which was drawn by African American artist Kadir Nelson. The album was released by Jackson's label, Epic Records, on December 14, 2010. The album includes ten new songs.
Controversy
Epic Records, the music label of Jackson, released a statement via Jackson's official web site: "The much anticipated album of newly completed recordings from Michael Jackson entitled MICHAEL will be released on December 14 by Epic Records in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson. An exclusive teaser for the project appeared on www.michaeljackson.com; on Monday, November 8th, the world premiere of "Breaking News," a full track from the album, streamed on the site "for one week only."
