Between December 2008-June 25, 2009, American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson rented a mansion at 100 N Carolwood Drive in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles. He lived in it with his children, Paris, Prince, and Bigi Jackson until his passing.[1][2] The unfortunate event happened inside this house, under the supervision of Jackson's private doctor, Conrad Murray.
Background[]
The house was built in 2002 with the French chateau architectural style. The mansion includes seven bedrooms, thirteen bathrooms, a wine cellar, a theater, an elevator, a tasting room, a gym, guest accommodation, a swimming pool, gardens, and more.
After the 2005 People v. Jackson trial, Jackson moved from one place to another, living in places such as Bahrain and Las Vegas. In December 2008, Jackson rented the Los Angeles mansion for $100,000, as the house was owned by Hubert Guez, manager of the Ed Hardy brand, who purchased the mansion in 2004 for $18.5 million.[1]
Sale[]
After Jackson's death, the mansion went on sale in August 2010.[2] Two years later, it was sold for $18.1 million to Steven Mayer, a senior managing director of private investment firm Cerberus Capital Management.[3]
Stolen property[]
In 2009, La Toya Jackson's ex-fiancé, Jeffré Phillips, stayed at the mansion for 9 days. There, he stole a lot of Michael's property, including CDs, DVDs, clothes, devices, etc. In June 2022, the Michael Jackson Estate filed a lawsuit against him.[4] He eventually returned all the items.

Investigation[]
Following Jackson's passing, the house was investigated. In 2016, pictures surfaced of what the room Jackson died in looked like as of June 25, 2009. Many of them include disturbing content, such as Jackson's death room, blood-stained shirts, drugs (including propofol), etc.[5][6] Additionally, multiple notes were found, some of which included titles for songs the King of Pop was working on at the time.
