Lisa Marie Presley (February 1, 1968 - January 12, 2023) was an American singer-songwriter. She was the only child of singer and actor Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley, as well as the sole heir to her father's estate.
Early life[]
Presley grew up living in her father's Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, until the age of four, when her parents separated. Presley moved with her mother to Los Angeles, California. Even though her parents were separated, she continued to see both, splitting time between both Los Angeles and Memphis. When she was 9, Presley's father died of an apparent heart failure associated with prescription drug abuse.
Personal life and career[]
At the age of 17, Presley was sent to Scientology's Celebrity Center rehab facility after dropping out of school and began abusing illegal drugs.. While at this facility, Presley met rock 'n' roll musician Danny Keough. Presley and Keough married on October 3, 1988. The couple had two children, a daughter named Danielle Riley and a son named Benjamin, in July 2020 in an apparent suicide.
Music career[]
Presley developed a career in the music business and has issued three albums: To Whom It May Concern in 2003, Now What in 2005, and Storm & Grace in 2012. Her first album reached Gold certification with the Recording Industry Association of America. Presley also released non-album singles, including duets with her father using tracks he had released before he died.
In addition, Lisa wrote a song about Michael with the song being named "Disciple". It was intended for her debut album, although it was cut prior to the release.[1]
Relationship and marriage with Michael Jackson[]

According to a friend of Presley's, "their adult friendship began in November 1992 in L.A." As the child molestation accusations against him became public, Jackson became dependent on Presley for emotional support. She was concerned about his faltering health and his drug addiction. Presley explained, "I believed he didn't do anything wrong, and that he was wrongly accused and, yes, I started falling for him. I wanted to save him. I felt that I could do it." Shortly afterwards, she successfully persuaded Jackson to settle the allegations out of court and go into rehabilitation to recover. Presley appeared in Jackson's "You Are Not Alone" video in June 1995, directed by Wayne Isham. Shortly after, she fell in love with Jackson. They first met in 1974 when a six-year-old Presley attended his concert at the Sahara Tahoe.
It was during one of Jackson's calls to Presley that he proposed marriage. "If I asked you to marry me, would you do it?", the singer queried. Though still married to actor Danny Keough, whom she had wed in 1988 and had two children with, Presley replied that she would. After a pause, Jackson exclaimed that he had to use the bathroom. Having apparently relieved himself, the singer explained to his new fiancée that his love for her was genuine and she had to believe him. In 2010, Presley acknowledged to Oprah Winfrey that Jackson did formally propose one day in the library, taking out a 10 carat diamond ring and getting down on his knees.

Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley kissing at their wedding.
Jackson and Presley famously shared a four-second kiss on stage, which generated a lot of cheers from the crowd. Some media outlets even believed they witnessed the couple consummate their marriage on national television. Presley looked embarrassed and didn't say a word on stage. She later told Playboy that she was terrified and thought the kiss was stupid. She said, “It looked awkward because I wanted out of my skin”.
Divorce[]
On August 20, 1996, Lisa Marie Presley divorced American singer-songwriter, Michael Jackson. As part of the settlement, Presley received 10% of the royalties from Jackson's 1995 double album, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, the album that contained the song "You Are Not Alone", whose music video featured a semi-nude Presley and Jackson frolicking against an ethereal backdrop. As she didn't sign a confidentiality agreement, a further clause stated that Presley could write a tell-all book about her time with Jackson. At the time, "The Princess of Rock 'n' Roll" revealed that she had no wish to write a memoir; the singer still had respect for Jackson and did not want to speak critically of him. Presley also wanted to preserve her own dignity and keep their life together private.
In their final conversation in 2005, Jackson asked Presley if she still loved him, and she told him she felt indifferent. Jackson cried after hearing her answer. After Jackson's death in 2009, Presley was reported to have "felt shattered". In an October 2010 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Presley revealed that she and Jackson had attempted to reconcile intermittently for four years following their divorce and that she had traveled to different parts of the world to be with him.
Death[]
Presley was rushed to the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas. She would soon be pronounced dead at the age of 54. Just days prior she attended the Golden Globes alongside her mother Priscilla where Austin Butler won a Golden Globe for the portrayal of her Father in the biopic Elvis in 2022,
