LaShawn Ameen Daniels was an American songwriter, vocal producer and arranger known for his songwriting credits on songs by artists such as Brandy, Destiny’s Child, Whitney Houston and more. Daniels would help co-write multiple of Michael Jackson's songs from 1998 until 2001, which would eventually end up on his tenth studio album, Invincible.

Meeting & work[]

LaShawn and the King of Pop met through Rodney Jerkins' "camp" (of writers) which he was a member of.[1] At the time of their meeting, Jerkins just got hired as Michael's producer for his tenth studio album. Alongside the producer and his brother, Fred, the two would work together from 1998 until 2001, when the album was eventually released.

  • At one point, Daniels also worked with Michael's sister, Janet, as Darkchild produced her 2008 album, Discipline. He co-wrote five songs for the record.
  • Born in Newark, New Jersey, Daniels became a prominent figure in the world of R&B and pop music, collaborating with various artists and leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary music landscape.
  • Daniels' career took off in the 1990s when he started working with producer Rodney Jerkins.
