"Jungle" (also referred as "Jungle City") is a demo by American singer-songwriter Dr. Freeze written for Michael Jackson and intended for the Invincible album. ( listen)
Background[]
In 1998, Dr. Freeze, a producer known from having co-written hits such as "I Wanna Sex You Up", joined Jackson's personnel, having met him through John McClain. He wrote and recorded "Jungle" in 1998, alongside "Blue Gangsta", "A Place with No Name", and "Break of Dawn", the latter of whom he also created a writer demo of, named "Twilight".
On October 16, 2022, Damien Shields confirmed through the X social media platform that the track never got past the writer's demo and that it has never been recorded by Jackson.[1][2] Despite that, however, Brad Buxer and Michael Prince reworked it in the 2000s, as another version was registered with U.S. Copyright Office.[3] Jackson is yet again uncredited, meaning he likely wasn't involved in it.
Parts of Dr. Freeze's writer's demo leaked online on March 31, 2023, after being featured in a YouTube video by user jackson.ch.[4]
