Hayvenhurst is a compound in the Encino neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley in California, United States. It was the Jackson family's home, where The Jacksons and Michael Jackson grew up for a long time. The house included a studio, where Michael recorded multiple demos and unreleased songs for three of his studio albums: Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. Besides, in this house, he learned and perfected the Moonwalk.
Background[]
1971-1994[]
Joe Jackson bought the house in May 1971, thanks to the commercial success of the Jackson 5. The family previously lived in Gary, Indiana.
Michael himself lived at Hayvenhurst until he turned 30, when he bought and moved to the Neverland Ranch in 1988. Additionally, it was also home to his pets: Bubbles, Louie , and Lola.[1] While Michael moved out, the rest of the family remained at the compound for years. However, after the 1994 Northridge earthquake, Joe decided to leave it.
2010-present[]
In 2010, Hayvenhurst went under extensive renovations, and a year after, Katherine listed it for sale. In September 2016, Michael's daughter, Paris, who was 18 years old, moved into the house.[2]
