"Groove of Midnight" is a song by Siedah Garrett, released as the sixth track from her album, Kiss of Life. It was originally intended for Michael Jackson. ( listen)
Background[]
The song was written by Rod Temperton and presented to Jackson for the Bad album in September 1986. However, the track didn't make the cut, and it's unknown how far the production went. Engineer Matt Forger - who was involved in archival work on Bad 25 - reported they weren't able to locate a version in the vault with Jackson's vocals.[1] Thus, it's unclear if it was ever recorded with his vocals in the first place.
In 2003, a minute-long snippet of the Bad recording sessions leaked online. It featured Jackson talking with producers and singing the song over a piano: this version was most likely not in the vault.
