"Got the Hots" is a previously unreleased song produced by Michael Jackson released as the seventeenth track on the Japanese edition of Thriller 25.
Background[]
"Got the Hots" was written by Rod Temperton and produced with Quincy Jones. It was recorded in June 1982 for the Thriller album at Hayvenhurst with engineer Brent Averill, but didn't make the final cut.[1]
After initially getting scrapped, the song was given to Siedah Garrett, who re-wrote and re-named the song into "Baby's Got It Bad", featured on her album, Kiss of Life.[2] Another song that received that treatment was "Groove of Midnight".
In 2008, "Got the Hots" appeared as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Thriller 25, and since then has appeared on multiple other compilation albums as well, including Thriller 40 in 2022.
