Frederick James Perren (May 15, 1943 – December 16, 2004) was an American songwriter, record producer, arranger, and orchestra conductor, known for his work with artists such as The Jackson 5, Gloria Gaynor, and The Miracles.
Work with The Jackson 5[]
Perren's work with The Jackson 5 started in 1969, when he and two other musicians, bassist Alphonzo Mizell and guitarist Deke Richards, were invited by Motown CEO Berry Gordy, to be a part of his group, named The Corporation, a collection of songwriters and record producers for the brother band. Perren, alongside his fellow members, would go on to contribute to multiple hits by The Jackson 5, including "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", "Mama's Pearl", and "Maybe Tomorrow", among others.[1]
