Forever, Michael is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released through Motown on January 16, 1975. It became the final record released by Jackson under said label.
Background[]
The album displayed a change in musical style for the 16-year-old Jackson, who adopted a smoother soul sound that he'd continue to develop on his later solo albums for Epic Records, the label he'd go on to release most of his hit singles and albums on for the rest of his life. Although there were already signs of his changing voice on his previous album Music & Me, this was the first album to feature Jackson as a tenor rather than a boy soprano.
Most of the tracks included on Forever, Michael were recorded between October–December 1974 (except for "I'll Come Home to You" which was recorded in December 1973), because the album was slated to be released that year. However, due to the amount of success "Dancing Machine" had, production was delayed until the hype from that song died down. A joint promo campaign with Forever, Michael and Moving Violation was launched by Motown in 1975.
