"Electricity" is an unreleased song produced by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson intended for the Invincible album.
Background[]
"Electricity" was created sometime between 1999-2001 during the Invincible sessions. It was produced by Rodney Jerkins, and originated from an idea Jackson had for "something with electricity in the music."
Darkchild confirmed it was only an instrumental beat, no lyrics were written down, and the vocals weren't recorded, but recalls it as one of his favorite tracks he did with Jackson.
“ | I remember I did a track, it never came out, but it was still one of my favorite tracks that I had for that album. The track was called "Electricity", and the reason why we named it "Electricity" is because Michael said "I want something with electricity in the music", and I'm thinking to myself, like, "how are we gonna do that?" And somehow, man, I don't know what we did, we created some type of sound [...] it sounded like electricity. That was the intro to the track. [...] I so wish we would have wrote a song to it and recorded it, because he loved it, and I loved it, but for some reason we never, like, attempted it, we just moved on from it. | ” |
