"Come Together" is a cover of The Beatles song produced by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released as the twenty-third track (eighth on the second disc only) from the HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I double album.

The cover actually had an official release earlier, being released as the B-side to the "Remember the Time" single.

Background

"Come Together" was first recorded on October 26, 1986 at Hayvenhurst during the Bad sessions, produced by Bill Bottrell and Jackson. Although it was left off the final album, it was later revisited and featured in the Moonwalker movie 2 years later with looped crowd noise from the Victory Tour.

He was pretty interested in my opinion, and I told him we should pick Come Together. Within a couple of days I had thrown a track together playing guitars and using some crude MIDI stuff.”	”

Jackson revisited "Come Together" for the HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I album before its release in 1995, albeit with minimal updates. The track was edited down from 5:20 to 4:02.

Music video

The clip for "Come Together" is a scene originating from the Moonwalker movie. It features Jackson performing on stage, similarly to what can be seen in "Dirty Diana" and "Give In to Me".

Trivia

• In a now-deleted X post, Bottrell expressed his dislike towards "Come Together", saying it "sucks".
• The song was also planned to be released in the greatest hits album, Decade, but this never came to fruition as the album was scrapped all out.
