"Break of Dawn" is a song written and produced by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released as the fourth track from the Invincible album.
Background[]
In 1998, producer Dr. Freeze, known for having co-written hits such as "I Wanna Sex You Up", joined Jackson's personnel, having met him through John McClain.[1]
"Break of Dawn" was one of the demos Freeze had presented to Jackson. It was recorded in August 1998 during the early Invincible sessions at Record Plant. Jackson presented the track to the Sony Music executives in February 1999, thanks to which they gave him a thumbs up for where the album's direction was heading.[2] Rodney Jerkins and Teddy Riley did additional work on the track before its inclusion on Invincible.[1]
"Break of Dawn" is known to have been planned as a single and to receive a music video. However, it couldn't happen due to Invincible's underperformance.
