Blood on the Dance Floor is one of Michael Jackson's songs and singles in the album, Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix. It was released on March 3, 1997 and November 24, 2000 and was recorded in 1991-1997. It was written and produced by Michael Jackson and Teddy Riley.
The song is about a predatory woman by the name of Susie, who seduces Jackson before plotting to stab him with a knife. The music video is credited as "(C) 1997-2000 MJJ Productions, Inc." and the ending of the music video copyrights as Optimum Productions. This song also appears in Michael Jackson: The Experience.[1][2][3]

Charts
As a ploy to generate interest in the album, the promotional short film (directed by Michael and Vincent Paterson) premiered in the UK on Top Of The Pops on 28th March 1997 - several weeks before its single release. The single then took the no.1 spot from R. Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly. The lead single peaked at number one in several countries, including the UK.

Trivia
- The song was originally recorded for Michael's Dangerous album in 1991, but failed to make the final track listing. Teddy Riley, reportedly, was upset that Michael didn't call him to "vacuum clean this old master" - that is, to give the song a more current sound, before its inclusion in the 1998 album, Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix.
- This song was performed in some concerts of the HIStory World Tour. Few performances had Jackson performing the song in a rare red jacket. Later performances were switched to Jackson wearing a blue uniform.
