"Bassouille" (alternatively known as "Basszouille") is an unreleased song written and produced by Michael Jackson intended for his 1995 double album, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I.
Background[]
The title was first discovered through the Michael Jackson: For The Record book. According to the release, "Bassouille" was co-written with Bruce Swedien and recorded in 1994 during the HIStory sessions. It was intended for the album, although it unfortunately ended up not making the final cut.[1]
A then-assistant engineer Ryan Arnold, mentioned the song when asked about "Little Susie / Pie Jesu", a song by Michael. He stated that the latter had a hard time composing what he wanted for the song, since the song sounded way too similar to this song.[2]
