“Al Capone” is a previously unreleased song written by American singer-songwriter Michael Jackson, released as the seventeenth track from the Bad 25 anniversary album.
Background[]
"Al Capone" was written in 1984, and recorded on October 1, 1985 during the early Bad sessions at Hayvenhurst. Bill Bottrell was behind the production. The idea for "Al Capone" was re-used for "Smooth Criminal", though they were still treated as two different songs during the Hayvenhurst sessions, being worked on simultaneously. "Al Capone" continued production until February 17, 1986, as it was later ditched in favour of "Smooth Criminal".
