On October 27, 2003 Michael Jackson made an appearance during the the Radio Music Awards at the Aladdin Casino & Resort, in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the show, the King of Pop won the Humanitarian Award, a completely new award invented just for this award ceremony.
He was introduced by Beyoncé. During the speech, Michael talked about "What More Can I Give" being the sequel to "We Are the World" and how the time has come "to express our feelings, inspires, hope and lift those who need it most."[1] Additionally, Jackson admired and thanked Knowles as well as the artists who participated in the "the All-Stars" project and proceeded to premiere the music video for "What More Can I Give" afterwards.
Right after the clip ended, Jackson was presented with the award itself and Beyoncé's speech.
“ | Michael, you've won every conceivable award, so the RMAs had to invent a new one, just for you. For your selfless contributions toward making our world a better place. | ” |

At the backstage of the award ceremony, the very infamous picture of Jackson was taken by a paparazzi photographer, Carlo Allegri.[3] Unfortunately, this image would be largely photoshopped, edited and used by tabloids and media around the world for years, in order to make Michael look more distorted and help spreading their wicked narrative, that the King of Pop is "scary".
